Siddhāsana
Technique:
Sit on the floor with legs stretched straight in front.
Bend the left leg at the knee hold left foot with the hands place the heels at the root of the thigh and rest the soul of the foot against the right thigh.
Now bend the right leg at the knee and place the right foot over the left ankle keeping the right heel against the root of the left thigh.
Place the soul of the right foot between the thigh and calf of the left leg.
Do not rest the body on the heels.
Stretch the arms in front and rest the back of the hands on the knees. Join the tips of the thumb and forefingers. Keep rest of the fingers stretched.
Hold this position as long as you can, keeping back, neck and head erect. Keep your vision indrawn as if gazing at the top of the nose.
Release the feet and relax for some time. Repeat the pose for same length of time with reversing the legs as described above.
Effects
It is a very relaxing āsana. It keeps the mind very alert. It removes stiffness in knees and ankles and it also improves lower region of spine and abdominal organs.
